Recent flooding in India, the worst experienced in 50 years, has displaced over two million people within the 16 districts of Bihar, India’s poorest state. AmeriCares emergency response team is working with our local health care and pharmaceutical partners to deliver medicines, nutritional supplements and hygiene items to help the people in the flood-affected communities.

The flooding, which also affected neighboring Nepal, occurred after a dam ruptured on the Kosi River in Bihar, which is located in northeastern India. Our partners in India include Emmanuel Hospital Association – Madhepura Christian Hospital., the Mahaveer Temple Trust, the SU Memorial Society and Project Concern International – India all of which provide critical health and livelihood services in the Bihar region.

For the past fifteen years AmeriCares has been working closely with state governments and leading nonprofit organizations in India to deliver life-saving medicines and medical supplies.
