  • Americares India

AmeriCares has been delivering life-saving medicines and medical supplies to health care providers in India for over 15 years. In that time, we’ve delivered more than $45 million worth of aid. We are deepening our commitment to the region in order to help more people live longer, healthier lives through a new initiative:  AmeriCares India.  AmeriCares India enables us to:

  • Deliver more medicines and medical supplies to more people within India;
  • Receive and distribute donated medicines from leading pharmaceutical companies in India effectively and efficiently; and
  • Quickly Respond to emergencies and natural disasters within India, Asia and Africa.

From preventive care for children to emergency disaster relief for survivors of the 2004 tsunami, floods, monsoons and earthquakes, AmeriCares is working to improve health in India and the surrounding region.

Continuing to meet the increased demand for health care products in resource-poor communities and, especially during times of emergency requires new resources of donated medicines. The thriving Indian pharmaceutical industry, which is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of generic drugs and basic health supplies, presents an ideal opportunity to leverage additional strength to focus on important medicines needed to treat diseases more prevalent in developing countries. By expanding into India, AmeriCares is increasing the volume and range of medicines and medical supplies we provide to partners worldwide.

With an office and warehouse located in India, we are achieving our objective to reach more people around the world, in addition to helping more people within India itself. The World Health Organization estimates more than 2 billion people around the world have inadequate access to medicine. Of those, more than one-third (700 million people) live in India. To improve the availability of medicines to indigent communities and disaster prone states in India, AmeriCares is replicating its medical assistance and emergency response programs through our new Mumbai office.
