In 2006, Americares started its work in India by responding to natural and man-made disasters across the country. In November 2008, Americares was registered in the name of Americares India Foundation as a Public Charitable Trust in New Delhi. Soon after, Americares started an office in Mumbai and a warehouse in Bhiwandi.
With on-ground trained staff, increased supply of donated medicines and a strategically located distribution hub, Americares expanded its work in India and today, it is well positioned to serve the surrounding regions of Asia and Africa, as it did when responding to the 2015 Nepal Earthquake.
Over the years, Americares India added many unique programs that addressed the gaps in health care systems and health resource allocation.
