Accomplishments

Since its founding, AmeriCares has provided more than $9 Billion of aid to 137 countries. To accomplish these results, AmeriCares assembles product donations from the private sector, determines the most urgent needs and solicits the funding to send the aid via airlift or ocean cargo to health and welfare professionals in the indigent locations.

Logistics

On the ground, AmeriCares works with international and local non-governmental organizations (NGOs), hospitals, health networks and government ministries of long-standing effectiveness such as the Order of Malta, Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity, Adventist Development and Relief Agency International, HOPE Worldwide, Project Mercy, and Centres pour le Développement et la Santé.

Three warehouses, one each in India, the U.S. and Europe, serve as assembly centers for inventory.

In some instances, where products such as medicines or medical supplies are not available through conventional channels and the need is critical, AmeriCares applies funds for direct purchases.

Efficiencies

Uncompromising security procedures assure that the assistance is distributed to the designated beneficiaries and not diverted. One of our best practices ensures there is all-inclusive tracking of medicine by lot number, allowing us to conduct thorough follow-ups.

The model is time tested, cost effective and experience driven. In our fiscal year 2007, every $100 in cash contributions enabled AmeriCares to deliver more than $3,600 in humanitarian relief, including medicines, medical supplies, nutritional supplements, blankets and other assistance. 

Gift-In-Kind

AmeriCares India provides nonprofit disaster relief and humanitarian aid worldwide with a focus on India and the surrounding region, where we deliver medicines and medical supplies to people in need. AmeriCares India solicits these in-kind donations from both Indian and multinational pharmaceutical companies. These products are then delivered to indigenous health and welfare professionals in the region. To support its programs, AmeriCares India relies on financial contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations.
