Spirit of Humanity Awards 2014 Winners

More than 200 entrants compete in 5th annual competition AmeriCares India announced the winners of the 5th annual 'Spirit of Humanity Awards' yesterday at the JW Marriott Hotel in Mumbai to showcase achievements in the health care sector. The awards recognized nongovernmental organizations and individuals working to improve health care for the underprivileged. The Awards were presented to winners in seven categories: Child Health, Diabetes, Eye Care, Oncology/ Palliative Care, Thalassemia, Women’s Health and Jury's Choice.

More than 200 nominations were received for this year’s competition. All qualified nominations were reviewed by a screening committee consisting of individuals from the social sector and CSR teams from the corporate sector. The top three applicants in each category presented their work today to a jury in a transparent, standardized format – all under the supervision of KPMG. The winner in each category received a cash award of Rs.100,000, a Spirit of Humanity trophy and a Certificate of Excellence.

More than 300 distinguished guests including CEOs, CSR heads of leading organizations, faculty & thought leaders in the social sector and leaders of nongovernmental organizations, attended the grand award function.

AmeriCares India launched the Spirit of Humanity Awards in 2010 to celebrate the exemplary work of individuals, corporations and organizations assisting health care for the disadvantaged throughout India.
