Our History in India

AmeriCares has been delivering life-saving medicines and medical supplies to health care providers in India for over 17 years. In that time, we’ve delivered more than $47 million worth of aid through established partnerships with local nongovernmental organizations to ensure our medicines reach the people most in need. We have deepened our commitment to the region in order to help more people live longer, healthier lives through a new initiative: AmeriCares India.

In India, AmeriCares has developed a platform based on strategic partnerships, high-efficiency and tight auditing procedures. AmeriCares works with international and local charitable organizations in India, including nongovernmental agencies, hospitals, the Ministry of Health and other organizations to asses humanitarian needs and respond to those that are most critical.

Regional Operations in Mumbai

With the establishment of our primary office in Mumbai, AmeriCares is building upon a long and successful history in the country. Establishing a local base enables us to:

  • Accept and distribute donations of high quality medicines from India’s burgeoning pharmaceutical industry.
  • Provide medical assistance to under-resourced hospitals, clinics and community health programs in India and neighboring Africa and Asia.

We are achieving our objective to reach more people around the world, in addition to helping more people within India itself. To improve the availability of medicines to indigent communities and disaster prone areas in the region, AmeriCares is replicating its medical assistance and emergency response programs through our Mumbai office.

Our promise is simple: when people are in crisis, they will get the help they need — whenever they need it, and wherever they are.
